Read: Isaiah 40:28-31 (NIV)
28Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of
the ends of the earth. He will not
grow tired or weary and his understanding no one can fathom. 29He gives strength to the weary and increases the
power of the weak. 30Even youths grow tired and weary, and young
men stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their
strength. They will soar on wings
like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Reflect:
The definition of hope is “to look forward to with
confidence or expectation.” It is also associated with the color green because
green symbolizes rebirth and renewal, which we believe is the fruit that hope
bears. 2016 has been a trying year for our family. God has us
planted in a place where we can only rely on hope in Him. There have been times
where we have felt trapped by circumstances beyond our control. Though it has
been frustrating at times, it has also been beautiful because God has shown us
how to hope and rely on Him. He has planted us here, and though we cannot go
left or right, we can go deeper into His word and draw close to Him. By going
deeper, we are also growing up in His grace... and hope! Yes, it is a
challenge, but it has been a beautiful and rewarding experience getting to know
our heavenly Father in a fresh, new, green and hopeful way.
Act:
If you’re feeling stuck in your circumstances, grow
your roots deeper into God’s word. There you will find a renewed hope and
confidence in Him.
Pray:
Heavenly Father, we thank You that You always offer us
hope, even in times of turmoil. Help us to always look to you as the source of
our hope and renewal!
